About the Author
What's on that label? How do you pronounce that? I'm not buying!
Judy L. Young developed her interest in healthy foods late in life but when her enlightenment came it came with a vengeance. Meaning she had to apologize to her children for having introduced them to the Golden Arches at a tender age.
She also felt compelled to tell the world about each and every new discovery and some of her family and friends where not so thrilled with her new found enthusiasm. But a few were and a couple even suggested, more than once, that she open a restaurant. When she flatly refused they asked if she would become their personal chef, as they were busy professionals with no time to shop or cook.
Again, another refusal and after a couple of years of their persistence Judy finally offered to teach them how to cook "her way". But insisted they first spend an hour with her in a large produce department. "If you don't know how to buy it and keep it fresh, how will you prepare it "?
Produce is her passion and she gives tours of the produce department in local health food stores and has a grand time introducing even the "knowledgeable" about fruits and veggies they have never tried. She's written six volumes of Cooking with Judy cooking guides that includes recipes for food you may not be familiar with and loads of tips and hints on how to save time and money. She also teaches cooking classes in your own kitchen, encouraging families to READ all food labels so they will know exactly what it is they are consuming.
Inspired to share the importance of knowing where your food comes from and how it has been grown and processed, the title of her next book is Eat from the FARM not a Factory. The more information you have the easier it is to choose foods that will improve your health, not rob you of it.
Judy's other passion is laughter without humor.
in 460 BC Hippocrates said,
"Let food be thy medicine and thy medicine shall be thy food".
We need to remember ourselves of that every day.
Judy, what a delightful site this is, such a terrific resource for healthy living!! Can't wait till we get together next.
Happy Thanksgiving!
