Not being a farmer I was confused about the difference between pesticides and herbicides. It turns out they are one and the same. Herbicides along with fungicides, insecticides and bactericides are simply different categories of pesticides. Each kills a variety of nuisances and all are toxic to humans and other animals. In fact 9 out of the 12 most dangerous chemicals on this planet are pesticides.
More and more people are learning about the risks and prefer to purchase organic foods that are free of pesticides. Just as more people are becoming aware of GMO's (genetically modified organisms). You will find more information about GMO's on page 44 in Volume 2.
People are also learning the benefits of buying locally grown foods. This practice not only stimulates our economy, it also dramatically reduces the miles traveled to your table, thus bring you fresher - healthier food for your family. Check out your local Farmer's Markets.
